The City of Irvine's Bikeways
Centerpoint Financial Management, a fee-only, fiduciary, financial advisor, has moved to the Irvine Spectrum Center area in the City of Irvine. In recognition of the move, this article would like to celebrate one of the amazing features of the City of Irvine, its interconnected system of off-street bikeways. This subject is a departure from the usual financial planning, retirement planning, investing and tax planning topics we normally write about, but we hope you will enjoy.
Every one of the Villages of Irvine is close to one of the off-street bikeways of the City of Irvine. If you are in the University Park, Turtle Rock, Turtle Ridge and Shady Canyon Villages, the Shady Canyon Trail, University Trail, Turtle Rock Trail and Bonita Canyon Trail can be your entry point into the City of Irvine bikeways.
On the other side of the City of Irvine, in the Stonegate, Eastwood, Cypress Village or Woodbury Villages of Irvine, the Jeffry Open Space Trail should be nearby by. This trail connects to the Cypress Village Trial which will lead you to the Sand Canyon Trail. (Note: While the Sand Canyon Bike Trail is a dedicated bike trail, there are three major street intersections, Barranca, Irvine Center Drive, and Alton, that will need to be crossed.) It also can take you through Central Irvine all the way to the 405. There, The Jeffrey Open Space Trail connects with the University Trail, which connects to the San Diego Creek Trail, and this trail connects with the Upper Newport Bay Trails of Newport Beach. From the base of the Loma Ridge, all the way to the beautiful Pacific Ocean!
If you are in the Northpark or Northwood Villages of Irvine, the Peters Canyon Trail and Jeffry Open Space Trail should be just down the road. The Hicks Canyon Trail and Walnut Trial will connect you, along with some on-street, dedicated bike lane options.
If you are in Central Irvine between the 405 and 5 freeways, the San Diego Creek Trail can take you from the southern section of the Irvine Business Complex to just south of the Irvine Spectrum Center area. The Walnut Trail is also a great option.
The Woodbridge Trail connects the Woodbridge neighborhood with the University Trail, which will cut thru the UC Irvine area and connect you the San Diego Creek Trail. This trail connects with the Upper Newport Bay, also known as the Backbay Trails of Newport Beach.
As the Orange Couty Great Park begins to take shape, the bikeways will help bring all of the Villages of Irvine in that area together. From Portola Springs, Pavilion Park, Novel Park, Cadence Park to Altair, the bikeways of Irvine will help the Great Park residents connect with the bikeways across the city of Irvine.
The bikeways of Irvine are just one of the amazing amenities the City of Irvine has on offer. While this article was focused primarily on the off-street bikeways, there are plenty of bike lanes on the major throughfares through Irvine. If you would like to get a map of these bikeways and learn more about transportation within the City of Irvine, please check out the City of Irvine’s website here.
So, if you need to clear your heading after thinking about your financial planning, investment, or income tax planning strategies, grab your helmet, dusk off your bike seat, fill your tires with air, and take advantage of Irvine’s excellent bikeways.
